On 12 October 2007, Toshiba course on nuclear power plant technology was again opened at Hanoi University of Technology in the framework of cooperation between Hanoi University of Technology (HUT), Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission (VAEC) and Toshiba.
In this frame work, a training course on nuclear power plant technology was opened on 6 of October last year. About 30 participants including students and officers from HUT, officers from VAEC and VARANSAC (Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Control) attended in the course. This nuclear course was established in order to encourage the young scientists and engineers to involve into nuclear power plant technology field more and to contribute for the improvement of human resource development of nuclear power plant technology field in Vietnam.
Toshiba has donated 26 laptops, 01 projector and other equipments to HUT for the course implementation in 2006. Based on the final results of the course, the 3 most excellent students have been dispatched to Japan by Toshiba fund and visited Toshiba factories as well as nuclear power plants in Japan. Together with this cooperation program, 10 HUT students related to nuclear engineering were also received scholarship from Toshiba at a total value of USD 2,500.
According to the successful results of the course for last year, a similar scheme of course for this year was again opened on October 12, 2007 at HUT. These activities mark the good cooperation and relationship between Japan and Vietnam on human resource development, especially in nuclear power technology field in Vietnam.
